AKON TO PERFORM AT THE INAUGURAL JEDDAH E-PRIX 2025
LONDON, UK & JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia. February 4th, 2024 – Formula E announced today that Akon, the Senegalese-American million-selling, multiple grammy nominated singer, will be the Friday night headline act for the inaugural Jeddah E-Prix, set to take place on February 14th -15th at the record-breaking Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
Akon is a Grammy-nominated artist, producer, entrepreneur, and actor, known for his impact on the global music scene and the African music movement.
His unique style blends Pop, R&B, Hip Hop and EDM, earning him a massive online following of over 130 million and worldwide sales of 35 million albums. With five Grammy nominations, 45 Billboard 100 hits, four Diamond records, and more than 300 collaborations with legends like Michael Jackson, David Guetta, Gwen Stefani, Lil Wayne and Eminem, Akon’s influence is unmistakable.

Akon’s headline confirmation comes just weeks after American rapper and Grammy winner Lil Baby was announced as the Saturday night headline act at the inaugural Jeddah E-prix. Moreover, support acts also include the award-winning Miami Band and Egyptian singer and actress Ruby.
MIAMI BAND
The Kuwaiti singing group, originally founded in 1991, rose to local fame with their hit song Sabouha released on their debut album of the same name. Over their decades-long career, Miami Band released numerous albums, including ‘Ghazala’ in 1994, ‘They Lived’ in 1996, ‘Miami Forever’ in 2008, and ‘Trouble’ in 2017, that produced many hit songs such as Ghazala, Ya Omre Ana, Sheloha Shela, and Bastans.
RUBY
Starting her career as an actor, Ruby first took small roles in films in the late 1990s before securing a bigger role in Yousef Chahine’s 2001 film Silence…We’re Rolling which led to her growing popularity. While working on-camera, Ruby also began her long and successful dinging career with her first single Enta Aref Eih (What Do You Know) being released in 2003. Since then, she continued to release several albums and singles and has also appeared in a variety of TV commercials as well acting in film and television.
JEDDAH E-PRIX
After six successful seasons of racing in Diriyah, Formula E is returning to Saudi Arabia for the seventh year but has moved the race to the city of Jeddah. The E-Prix will take place on a modified layout of the fast and flowing Jeddah Corniche Circuit, known for being the fastest street circuit in the world, on February 14-15.
The Jeddah E-Prix will also be a special event for title sponsor ABB as it will celebrate its 100th race with Formula E over the race weekend. Saudi Arabian fans will see a number of brand initiatives around the track acknowledging ABB’s special partnership with Formula E.
